Power every drive with top-rated in-car chargers

Your phone should hit full battery before you pull into the driveway. Cygnett in-car chargers make that easy, topping up fast from the moment you start the engine, so your maps stay live and your music keeps playing the whole way.

Our range covers magnetic wireless mounts for cable free charging, alongside 12V and 24V USB-C options in dual port and multi port builds. Outputs reach 100W, and some models can run Starlink Mini straight from the socket.

Find the right in-car charger for what drives you

We make a few types of in-car chargers, each suited to a different kind of driver. Here is how they match up:

- Our 12V and 24V car adapters are best for EV owners and Tesla drivers, who power devices straight from the electric car's 12V socket, and they suit daily commuters just as well.
- Our magnetic wireless mounts are best for rideshare drivers, who reposition their phone all shift for directions.
- Our dual port car chargers are best for families, powering two devices at once so the kids stay happy in the back seat.
- Our multi port car chargers are best for road trippers, with enough ports to run a phone, a tablet, and a laptop all at once.
- Our Jump Starter Power Pack is best for off-grid adventurers or reliable protection against that dreaded flat battery, giving you a safe car jump starter and a portable charger in one.

Heading off-grid? Pair your in-car charger with our Power Banks, Portable Power Stations, and solar panels for an off-grid charging station that keeps your devices powered away from mains power.

How fast can an in-car charger charge your device?

Higher wattage means faster charging. Our in-car chargers cover 12W up to 100W, so you choose the speed that fits.

Fast charging for most phones requires at least 20W, while tablets typically need 30W or more. Laptops demand higher power output, with a MacBook Air requiring at least 45W and most traditional laptops or MacBook Pro need between 65W and 100W or more for optimal charging performance.

Our USB-C in-car chargers also support Power Delivery (PD) and Programmable Power Supply (PPS) charging technologies. Power Delivery delivers fast, efficient charging for compatible devices, while PPS dynamically adjusts voltage and current for a faster, more optimised charge. It also unlocks Samsung's super-fast charging on Galaxy phones.

One thing to remember. Your phone's maximum input caps the real speed, so a fast car charger will only go as fast as your device allows. You can't damage your phone by using a higher-wattage charger than it supports, but you can shorten its lifespan by underpowering it.

Go cable free with magnetic wireless charging

Don’t like cables littering your passenger’s seat? Our MagSafe and Qi2 wireless car chargers give you that tidy setup. These magnetic charger mounts snap your phone in with one hand and charge it up, no cords to plug in.

Choose a car vent mount or a dash mount for the windscreen. The vent option sits your phone in the air con path, so it stays cool and charges at full pace. Once your phone is in, you can switch between portrait and landscape in a second for maps or a call.

It pairs natively with MagSafe-compatible iPhones and Qi2 phones like some flagship Android models. For phones that support wireless charging but without built-in magnets, a magnetic case helps.

Check if your phone supports magnetic wireless charging before you choose a magnetic mount. Older handsets and many Android phones do not have wireless charging features.

Keep in mind that our magnetic wireless chargers cap out at 15W. If you want faster charging speeds, go wired.

Match your in-car charger to your device

Our dual port and multi port chargers carry USB-C and USB-A ports, or a mix of both. Pair them with the right connector and you can charge virtually any device.

iPhone owners want a USB-C to Lightning cable, or USB-C to USB-C on iPhone 15 and later. Android owners get the best speeds from a USB-C cable. USB-A and micro-USB connectors are ideal for older devices.

Do car phone chargers work when the car is off?

It depends on your car. Most car phone chargers draw power from the 12V socket or USB ports, which run off the ignition. In many cars, that power cuts out once the engine stops. So, the power supply to your charger is cut out as well.

Some models keep the socket live even when you are parked. If your car is one of these, leaving a phone plugged in overnight can drain and flatten your car battery.

To find out if your vehicle cuts out power automatically or not, plug your phone in, turn off the engine, lock the car, and look through the window. If the phone is still charging or the charger's LED is glowing, your car has always-on outlets.

This matters even more if you drive an EV. If the 12V socket remains "always on" and the car sits idle for weeks with a high-draw device plugged in, it can eventually drain the 12V battery.

Does charging my phone or laptop reduce my EV’s driving range?

Technically yes, but practically no. Your phone or laptop uses a very small amount of power compared to what your EV needs to move.

A phone charger usually draws around 10 to 30 watts. Most EV batteries hold around 60,000 to 100,000 watt hours, or even more.

So, charging your phone for an hour may only reduce your driving range by a few feet. That’s less than one firm tap on the accelerator.

FAQs

Are Cygnett in-car chargers safe to use?

Cygnett in-car chargers have built-in overcharge and overheat protection that keeps your phone and your car safe. Every model is designed in Australia and backed by a 2-year warranty.

What is the difference between a wired and a wireless car charger?

A wired in-car charger plugs into your car's 12V socket and charges through a USB-C or USB-A cable for the fastest speeds. A wireless car charger mounts on your vent or windscreen and charges compatible phones magnetically, with no cable to plug in.

How many devices can an in-car charger charge at once?

It depends on the number of ports. Dual port car chargers charge two devices at the same time, while multi port options can charge more.

Do Cygnett in-car chargers come with a cable?

Cygnett wireless car mounts include a 1.5m USB-A to USB-C cable to power the mount. Wired car chargers do not include a charging cable, so pair one that matches your device.
