iPhone Duo cases perfectly designed for Apple's innovative new phone.

Apple's first foldable is not a normal phone with a bend added. It is two panels, a hinge and a cover screen, and each of those parts wears differently to the slab in your pocket right now. Grit in the hinge, scratches on the cover screen, a case that stops the halves sitting flush.

Our iPhone Duo cases are designed in Australia and shaped for both panels, so the phone still closes flat and the hinge stays clear. Two options, AeroMag and AeroSlim, both backed by a 2-year warranty.

Why a folding phone needs a different kind of case

A case for the foldable iPhone Duo is really two shells. One sits on each panel and the phone holds them in position, because a single piece stretched across the hinge would stop it folding at all. That is the first thing that separates it from every set of phone cases you have bought before.

It also changes what slim means. Half a millimetre of extra shell on each panel becomes a full millimetre the moment the phone shuts, so thickness is the number that matters most on this device. The iPhone Air showed how quickly a thinner body changes what a case has to do, and a folding phone doubles that pressure.

The hinge itself stays exposed. No case covers it, so hinge care sits with you rather than with the case.

Foldable phones have been on sale for years and the weak points are well documented. Dust working into the hinge, a scuffed cover screen and stress on the inner display come up again and again, and none of those are problems an iPhone 17 Pro Max owner has ever had to think about.

Which iPhone Duo case do you actually need

Two cases, two clear jobs.

  • AeroMag is the one to get if you use magnetic accessories. A magnet ring is built into the case, so MagSafe compatible chargers, mounts, wallets and Power Banks snap on and line up first go. MagSafe support comes from the case, which means you get it whether or not you already own magnetic phone accessories.
  • AeroSlim is best for anyone who wants the thinnest possible profile and charges with a cable. Same hard protective shell and the same scratch resistant finish, without the magnet ring.

Both use anti-yellowing materials, so a clear case still looks clear a year in, and both carry a raised bezel around the camera to keep the lenses off the table.

There is no rugged case in the range for this device yet. A thick armoured shell fights the fold, adds bulk on both halves and makes the phone awkward to close, so we have kept the iPhone Duo range slim on purpose.

What to look for in a case for a foldable phone

The buying criteria shift on a folding phone, so it is worth knowing what actually matters.

  • Closed thickness. Judge a case by how the phone feels shut, not open. Anything added to each panel is doubled in your pocket.
  • Hinge clearance. The case should stop short of the hinge on both sides. Anything overlapping it will rub, catch or stop the phone closing flat.
  • Side button access. Reporting points to Touch ID moving into the side button on this device, so that cutout needs to leave the button completely clear and easy to reach.
  • Camera protection. A raised bezel around the camera does the job of a separate lens protector for most people. Stacking a lens protector on top adds height on the exact device where height costs you most.
  • Grip. A thin titanium phone is slippery, and it is more slippery again once it is folded into a narrower block. Texture and edge shape earn their keep here.
  • Magnets. Magnetic mounts, wireless chargers and Power Banks only work properly if the alignment ring is there, so choose the magnetic case if that is how you charge.

Do you need a screen protector for the iPhone Duo

Yes for the cover screen, no for the inner one, and the difference matters.

The cover screen is ordinary glass and it takes the same treatment as any phone screen. Keys, coins, benchtops. A tempered glass screen protector is worth fitting, and our iPhone Ultra screen protector is made for that front panel.

The inner display is a different material. It is a flexible panel that bends every time you open the phone, and a rigid tempered glass screen protector cannot bend with it. Fitting one can lift at the crease, trap air along the fold or press on the panel until it damages the display underneath. That is why we make a front-screen product only, and why we would rather tell you that than sell you something that shortens the life of the phone.

Leave the factory-applied inner layer alone, keep the hinge clear of pocket lint and sand, and do not close the phone on anything that has found its way onto the inner screen. Those three habits do more for a foldable than any accessory.

A folding phone is the most expensive thing in your pocket and the easiest to damage. Sort it properly with a Cygnett iPhone Duo case today.

Pair it with an iPhone Duo screen protector for the cover screen, a wall charger that can actually keep up now Apple no longer includes one in the box, and a magnetic Power Bank for days the fold gets a workout. Still on last year's phone? Our iPhone 17 Pro Max cases are right here.

Frequently asked questions

Will other iPhone cases fit the iPhone Duo?

No. A folding phone has two panels rather than one body, so nothing designed for a single-piece phone will fit, including iPhone 17 Pro Max or other high-end device cases. It needs a case made specifically for a foldable, with a separate shell for each half and clearance at the hinge.

Can you put a screen protector on the inner screen of a foldable phone?

Not a tempered glass one. The inner panel flexes every time the phone opens, and rigid glass cannot follow that movement. It lifts at the crease and can press hard enough to mark the display. Protect the cover screen with glass and leave the inner panel to its factory layer.

Do iPhone Duo cases work with MagSafe accessories?

AeroMag has a magnet ring built into the case, so MagSafe compatible mounts, wallets, wireless chargers and Power Banks attach and align correctly through it. AeroSlim has no magnets, so magnetic accessories will not hold. Choose AeroMag if magnetic charging or car mounting is part of your day.
