Plug in with charging cables and connectors built for the long haul

A frayed cable that cuts out mid-charge is one of those small frustrations that adds up fast. You wiggle it, hold it at a certain angle, and eventually toss it for another cheap replacement that does the same thing.

Cygnett’s charging cables and connectors are built to break that cycle. They’re designed in Australia to meet global product standards and backed by up to 5 years of warranty for our Armoured range. That’s how much confidence we have in their quality.

Our range covers USB-C, Lightning, USB-A, and micro USB cables, plus right-angle and HDMI options, along with Ethernet and DC-to-DC cables compatible with Starlink devices. And with lengths from 50cm to 20m, we have the right cable for every setup.

Pick the right data and charging cable for your device

Your choice of charging cable comes down to the connector your device uses. Here’s a quick guide:

- USB-C cable (USB-C to USB-C or USB-A): The go-to fast-charging cable for the latest Android phones and Apple phones from the iPhone 15 onwards, AirPods, iPad Air, iPad Pro, and MacBooks. Our USB Type-C cables support up to 240W via Power Delivery in the Armoured Pro range and up to 60W in the Essentials range, with a 480Mbps data transfer rate.

- Lightning cable (Lightning to USB-C or USB-A): The standard connector for legacy Apple devices, including iPhone 14 and older. Our Lightning cables support up to 30W fast charging in the Armoured range and 12W in the Essentials range.

- USB-A cable: A solid pick for connecting to older devices and computers. Our range is available in 1m and 2m lengths.

- Micro USB cable: Compatible with older Android devices and mobile phones, keyboards, and other legacy devices that haven't moved to USB-C yet.

For maximum durability, go for our Armoured cables built with double-braided nylon and DuPont Kevlar construction. We also have right-angle options with a 90-degree connector for in-car and gaming setups, and light-up cables with colour-changing LED lighting.

From your TV to your Starlink, we've got the cable for it too

Cygnett's cable range goes well beyond charging to cover your full home and workspace setup:

- HDMI cables: High-speed cables that support 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 120Hz. Best for connecting laptops, gaming consoles, and streaming devices to a TV or monitor.

- Ethernet cables: Deliver Gigabit speeds and best for home offices and setups where a stable wired connection matters.

- Starlink cables (DC-to-DC and USB-C to DC with 5525 connector): Designed specifically for Starlink Gen 3 and Starlink Mini, supporting up to 100W.

How to pick the right cable for your setup

Not sure what to get?

1. Consider your connectivity needs. For USB or Lightning connections, consider your data transfer and charging speed requirements to ensure you get the right cable. For TVs, monitors, and gaming setups, you’ll need an HDMI cable. If you need Gigabit internet speeds, go for a CAT6 Ethernet cable.

2. Match your connector. Check the port on your device and on your charger. A USB-C charging cable won't fit a Lightning port, and a micro USB cable won't fit a USB-C port. You’ll need an adapter to bridge two different connector types.

3. Get the right length. Go for 50cm for travel and compact desk setups. Choose 1m to 3m for everyday home and office use.

4. Match the wattage to your device. Flagship phones like iPhone and Samsung galaxy need at least 20W to 35W. Larger devices like iPads and laptops need 45W to 100W.

Fast charging needs the right cable, too

Fast charging depends on three things working together: the device, the charger, and the cable. So if your cable doesn't support high-speed charging, your charging speed drops to the lowest in the chain.

Most phones need at least 20W to fast-charge, tablets at least 45W, and laptops at 60W. Cygnett’s USB-C cables also come with Power Delivery (PD), a protocol that allows USB-C cables to carry higher wattage safely. To get the most out of your fast charging cable, pair it with a compatible wall charger or in-car charger that supports PD.

FAQ

What is a fast-charging cable?

Fast charging cables are able to offer speeds of at least 2.4A/12W. This refers to the power output of the cable, and the higher the rating, the faster the charging speeds. Modern cables are multifunctional and often utilise improvements in USB technology to allow for rapid data transfer speeds in addition to quick charging.

Can I use any cable for fast charging?

For the fastest charging speeds, look for the cable’s output, measure in amps (A) or watts (W). ‘Fast’ cables are typically those offering an output of at least 2.4A/12W, but the most streamlined modern cables can be 3A/60W or, as in the case of USB-C to USB-C technology, up to 5A/100W.

Does cable length affect charging speed?

Besides the output capacity of the cable, its physical properties can affect its potential charging speed. Both cable length and gauge (the thickness of the cable) can affect the speed at which a cable can charge a device, with longer and thinner cables both creating more resistance and thus slowing down the charging speed.
