USB-C cables are everywhere now. They're the go-to for the latest phones, laptops, tablets, and more. From powering your MacBook Pro to transferring files off your Android device, USB-C has taken over. But not all cables are created equal.
At Cygnett, we’ve built a full range of USB-C cables that keep up with your life. Need a heavy-duty braided USB-C to USB-A? We’ve got it. Want a USB-C to USB-C cable with 240W Power Delivery for serious laptop charging? That’s in the range, too. All designed in Australia, all built to last.
What is a USB Type-C cable?
A USB-C cable is the newer, smaller connector that works in either direction — no more flipping the plug three times. It’s used to charge, transfer data, and connect modern tech. You’ll find it in iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, iPads, MacBooks, Windows laptops, USB-C hubs, webcams, keyboards, and even docking stations.
What makes USB Type-C cables special? It's universal. A single USB-C cable can charge almost anything from your laptop to your headset, transfer photos, and even connect to Ethernet adapters and SD card readers.
Why choose a Cygnett USB-C cable?

6. Designed to support all your USB-C devices, including Apple, Samsung, and more
7. Backed by a 2- or 5-year warranty, depending on the model
Are all USB-C cables the same?
Not even close. There are many different types of USB-C cables for different types of connectors. Here’s a quick breakdown:
USB-C to USB-A: Great for older wall chargers, Power Banks, and computers with traditional USB ports.
USB-C to USB-C: Best for modern fast-charging. Ideal for new laptops, tablets, and USB-C wall chargers.
USB-C to Lightning: Needed for older iPhones, iPads, and some Apple Watch charging docks.
They also offer different data transfer speeds:
1. USB 2.0: Up to 480Mbps and perfect for syncing
2. USB 3.0/3.1: Up to 5Gbps or 10Gbps and ideal for fast file transfers
3. USB 4.0: Up to 40Gbps and made for pro users, external monitors, and large files
Are all USB-C cables fast charging?
Nope. Fast charging requires a cable that is specifically rated for higher power delivery, such as through protocols like USB Power Delivery (USB PD) or Qualcomm Quick Charge.
At Cygnett, we’ve got heaps of USB-C charging cables that are built for fast-charging, delivering anywhere from 20W up to 240W. But this still depends on the wattage and your device.
Here’s a quick guide:
1. 20W-60W: Great for phones, iPads, Nintendo Switch, and USB-C Power Banks
2. 65W-100W: Enough to fast charge most laptops, like a MacBook Air or Dell XPS
3. 240W: For serious power needs like high-end laptops or dual displays
Keep in mind that the charging speed still depends on your device's maximum input. Even if you use the cable with the highest wattage, your device will only take in what it’s built to handle. For example, an iPhone won’t charge faster with a 240W cable than it would with a 60W one.
It also depends on the charger. If you want to take advantage of the cable’s fast-charging speeds, make sure to pair it with a fast-charging wall charger or Power Bank.
Find the right USB-C cable for your devices
Picking the right type C cable depends on:
Device compatibility: Start with what you're using. A Mac or laptop will likely need a USB-C to USB-C cable that supports 100W or more. A phone or iPad may only need 20W to 60W. For older Apple devices, go for a USB-C to Lightning cable.
Length: Think about where you'll use it. 50cm is perfect for travel or desk setups. 1m to 2m is the everyday sweet spot. 3m is great if your wall socket or wall charger is across the room.
Speed: Just charging your phone? Any Cygnett USB-C cable will do. But if you’re transferring large files, backing up an iPad, or editing video, go for a cable with USB 3.0, USB 3.1, or USB 4.0 for faster speeds.
Durability: If you’re using your cable daily, go for one that lasts. Our Armoured Series featuring braided nylon and Kevlar-reinforced options stand up to wear and tear.
How can I tell if my device is compatible with a USB-C cable?
Easy. Look at the charging port. If it’s small, oval, and symmetrical, that’s USB-C. You’ll find it in most:
1. many Android phones (like Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and newer models)
2. iPhone 15 and newer releases
3. newer iPads, starting from the 2018 iPad Pro
4. MacBooks (2018 models and newer)
5. The latest Power Banks, keyboards, headsets, and more
