Tiana is a former professional Australian basketball player who has played in Australia, the US and Europe. She is also an Opal who represented Australia in the 2021 FIBA Women's Asia Cup in Jordan, where Australia were Bronze medalists.
Breast Cancer Journey
In 2019, while playing for Syracuse University in the US, Tiana was named in the preliminary roster to represent Australia in the 2020 Olympics. However she had to withdraw due to a breast cancer diagnosis. After this first diagnosis, she was still able to carry on her career, playing for Syracuse, in the WNBL and in European leagues. However, in May 2023, Tiana announced her retirement due to a re-diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer, which has now spread to other parts of her body. Cygnett has partnered with Tiana to share her story of positivity and light in the face of adversity.
McGrath Foundation
The McGrath Foundation raises money to fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia. They currently have 204 McGrath Breast Care Nurses, who help individuals and their families experiencing breast cancer by providing physical, psychological and emotional support, for free. From the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment, their team of highly-qualified nurses are there to help. Cygnett has partnered with the McGrath Foundation to help them reach their target of 250 McGrath Breast Care Nurses by 2025.
McGrath Breast Care Nurses
McGrath Breast Care Nurses are at the heart of the McGrath Foundation. No cancer treatment is without its challenges, but this is where a McGrath Breast Care Nurse can help. They listen, guide and support people with breast cancer and their families every day through meaningful conversations, advice and quality care. To this day, McGrath Breast Care Nurses have helped over 123,000 families experiencing breast cancer.
